Book Club?

Book Club for 2010-2011

Greetings everyone,

I'd like to start a book club. I have some suggestions for this year to get it started. Over the next few months, once we get a group together, perhaps we can adjust them. I've chosen them based on readability, although Trollope might be a bit more difficult. I think there is a balance between different types of non-fiction and fiction.

We may also read The Purpose Driven Life, but that will be a church wide activity.

If you're interested, please give me a holler.

Shop Class as Soul Craft: Finding joy while working with your hands. (non-fiction, spirituality)
The Big Short: Who warned us about the current economic crisis: and how they were ignored. (non-fiction, current events)
Take This Bread: Atheist author Sarah Miles discovers Christ in an Episcopal congregation, and her calling to feed the hungry.(non-fiction, memoir)
Leaving Church: A memoir of faith: Famous preacher overwhelmed by church life. (non-fiction, memoir)
Bridge: Editor of the New Yorker writes well received, unvarnished bio of the President. (non-fiction, biography, current events)
Jesus Wars: Historian discusses the violent wars that led to the Chalcedonian church. (non-fiction, Church History)
The White Man's Burden: Economist tells why foreign AID hasn't worked. (non-fiction, economics)
The Way We Live Now: Trollope's classic novel. (fiction, classic)
The Book Thief: One of the top ten novels of the last 10 years, about a Jewish girl hidden by an Aryan family. (fiction, recent)
