The Joyful Company: our friendships

St. Bartholomew’s Church is a place where many different sorts of people gather for fellowship, mutual encouragement and service. Although we are a small community at present, we believe individuals who want

Spiritual sustenance
Thought provoking discussions
Entry into the greater White Plains community
Good music
Spiritual anchors for children
Social justice

would be happy here.

Currently we have several different communities of friends. You can reach them via the contacts page.

The Choir leads the congregation in worship. Music raises the spirit and reaches the same part of the soul as spiritual work. We have several students who assist the choir lead the congregation. Contact Rita Mathsen (rmathsen1[at]msn[dot]com)

The Episcopal Church Women meets on Tuesday mornings for service, fellowship, prayer and planning. All women are invited to join. Contact Melba Thomas for details.

The Guild of St. Ives is a fellowship of attorneys, paralegals, and law students that gathers for fun, networking and occasional cocktails. Contact Chip Calhoun for more details.

The Women’s Fellowship is a younger group of women that meets for friendship, encouragement and occasional retreats.

The Book Club meets four to eight times a year. We select one each biography, novel, non-fiction, religious and poet each year. We use Episcopal Meetup to coordinate the group, also.

Pub Theology is a group that likes to pontificate and drink. Moderately, of course. Sometimes a British beer, single malt scotch or even a glass of GSM from the Barossa Valley. Sign up via the Episcopal Meetup.

The Social Justice Committee meets to act and support transforming the world into a better place through service and advocacy.

The Parent’s Group and Sunday School ("unskool") seeks to inculcate values and harness the imagination in young children for strength, hope and love.

The Babysitting Cooperative is an affiliated group of families who are not necessarily members. They share childcare among each other. Inquiries welcome, but some rules apply.

Community Supported Agriculture is a group of 30 families that has contracted to Stoneledge farm to deliver organic, locally grown produce. They deliver food on Wednesdays from late June to November. The cost is $475 per year. Low-Spray fruit is another $200. Contact the church for more information.

The Westchester Wine Group: A secular group unaffiliated with the church, but run by the Rector as a personal avocation. Members of the church are encouraged to join if they have an interest in wine.
