Today I had a meeting with the organist. We are using a variety of different liturgical sources - paperless music; music for children; Wonder Love and Praise; St. Gregory of Nyssa's Liturgy for Music. One of the issues is technical - cutting and pasting into the bulletin. Not fun, especially using Episcopal software.
We're thinking of having a couple Thursday evenings in February where we invite members of the congregation to join us in song to discern what different hymns we'd like to try during the service. There is some amazing music out there that we should be experimenting with: music that is elegant, simple, beautiful, and easy for people to sing, people who do not usually sing.
Then rotary - an interesting FBI regional director. Now I'm working on calling people who have not pledged, or forgotten to. It's an opportunity - a signal - to reconnect. Sometimes its just overlooking our letters; sometimes its a call for more attention. St. Barts should strive to be more of a calling community.
