Stewardship

Diary

Today I had a meeting with the organist. We are using a variety of different liturgical sources - paperless music; music for children; Wonder Love and Praise; St. Gregory of Nyssa's Liturgy for Music. One of the issues is technical - cutting and pasting into the bulletin. Not fun, especially using Episcopal software.

Annual Appeal Letter

I’ve been amazed at how St. Barts has changed.

“I’ve never imagined that I would return to church,” said one person. Another recent member said, “It’s time for me to give back.” And another: “I am thankful to have a family.”

It’s official. We’ve started to grow again. The sense of mission, hope and expectation are real. And it has been because of your support.

The Day

Busy day today.

Stewardship letter approved. worked on bulletin for Gregg's funeral. We made 200 copies. The amusing thing is that there were 200 people there, but they didn't take the bulletins. So nobody sang. Rule: get ushers.

About eight people spoke. One had five pages. I probably didn't need to preach a homily, because everyone was eloquent.

M has developed some beautiful invitations for our Dec. 5th Bash. The vestry decided to make it manageable. That's a good idea.

I did have a chance to exercise.

Thank You for Pledging

this letter is going out today....

Dear Name,
“ For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. -- Luke 12:34
I want to thank you for committing to St. Bartholomew’s Church this year.

Unlike most of the institutions that organize our lives, Churches are local. They provide direct, face-to-face relationships. Their role as care providers, as schools, as storytellers connects disparate parts of the culture. We gather people together.
