Why move the pews?

Over at standfirmonfaith.com they’ve been commenting upon the press we’ve gotten. Beware, friends, although it has plenty of interesting news, many of the commentators are of the mean and contemptuous brand of our faith, especially the anonymous ones. As my brother remarked, "stay away from the comments!"

Love them, but prepare to be a bit bruised.

Still, there are worthwhile critiques worth considering.

The Journal News has done a story on one part of our church growth plan. It's pretty good. The author said it began a conversation among his coworkers about why people don't go to church.

Here in Westchester, Christianity is a lot like a mission field. When I first arrived, I remember one member saying, "I just can't imagine inviting anyone to come to church." And we're in an area where if someone confesses their Christianity, they are considered prejudiced, ignorant, or old. Or all three.
