Massive Poetry Bailout

"Cultural leaders have come together to announce a massive poetry buyout: leveraged and unsecured poems, poetry derivatives, delinquent poems, and subprime poems will be removed from circulation in the biggest poetry bailout since the Victorian era. We believe the plan is a comprehensive approach to relieving the stresses on our literary institutions and markets."

Thank God someone is doing something!

Auden

Looks like Auden will be printed on the subway. He founded the Guild of Scholars, a lay Episcopal organization of professors, and wrote, I think the clearest exposition of Pauline theology in Law like Love.

Law, say the gardeners, is the sun,
Law is the one
All gardeners obey
To-morrow, yesterday, to-day.

Law is the wisdom of the old,
The impotent grandfathers feebly scold;
The grandchildren put out a treble tongue,
Law is the senses of the young.
