Religion in the Everyday

Over the last two weeks, two events have happened that are worth examining through the religious, or spiritual, lens. what I mean is that people are doing things that are irrational - they have little utility in themselves. They are responses to a feeling of being face to face with the transcendent, the infinite, or God.

The Coming Religious Peace

Here is an explanation of secularism, Christianity and religious peace that is fascinating. Plainly, the wealthier (and more educated a society), the less likely religious institutions will claim power - of a particular sort. Wolfe notes, at the end, that megachurches are how people organize in the US. But religious values (frugality, etc) beget and end to religious observance.
