Church Growth

Letter from a Former Parishioner

Dear Gawain:

I am so glad I made it back to White Plains and be at St. Bart’s for Easter. Since I get news of the church weekly through email, I had of course taken note of the changes to the configuration of the altar and pews as well as the article in the Journal News back last fall. It looked lovely and tasteful and I was very curious to see it.

Positive responses to moving the furniture

We've had a lot of positive responses to the movement of the pews. After the first mass, we heard the following:

"I think today was FABULOUS. To say I am not a gusher is an understatement, but I am gushing now, and to anyone who will listen. The vibe in the church this morning was incredible.... Talk about a positive energy. I heard the word intimate about ten times in describing the feel of the "new" church. The church actually felt full this morning.... WOW what will Christmas feel like?"

Seekers

We had five people visit yesterday. It means that over the last three months we've had more than 15 people check us out - and most of them have visited again. I'm encouraged. But there is a slight problem.

As a group, visitors tend not to come the same week. And since its a big church, it often feels empty.

I have something to tell you. Read, please!

I felt I had to make a couple demands.

You probably have lots of people and materials and tasks demanding your attention. I bet you have lots of stuff, besides this newsletter, to read.

But this is the most important thing you will read. Right now.
